To the Portland City Council:
We, the undersigned, urge the Portland City Council to place four corporations—Caterpillar, G4S, Hewlett-Packard, and Motorola Solutions—on its Do-Not-Buy list due to their involvement in the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.
Portland’s Socially Responsible Investment Policy states that Portland should not invest in companies that abuse human rights. Therefore, our tax dollars should not be used to invest in these corporations so long as they provide products and services that sustain Israel’s occupation.
That occupation is illegal under international law and denies fundamental human rights to the Palestinian people.
